Free Radicals and Cellular Damage

Recently we had a try out for a free radical and antioxidant blood level testing. We ran the blood test for everyone in the clinic including mine. My reading is below.

It is seen that my fort test is within range meaning I have adequate antioxidant levels and my fort test is low which means my free radical level is low. All that vitamins and minerals intake I've been taking all this while does help after all!

So, What are Free Radicals ?
Free radicals are by products of daily metabolism or from external sources ( pollution, cigarettes smoke, radiation and others).

What doesFree Radicals cause?
Accumulation of Free radicals in the body causes oxidative damage to cellular components ( lipids, proteins, and DNA structures), resulting in altered cellular function, compromised tissue and organ function, and ultimately diseases and death

What are Antioxidants?
Antioxidants help neutralize the excess of free radicals, protect cells against their toxic effects and contribute to disease prevention.

The commonest cause of Free Radical accumulation nowadays is stress.

Stress & Fatigue - the modern life syndrome
Stress can affect our body, emotion, behaviour and all aspects of our life.
Fatigue is the state of feeling very tired, exhausted, or sleepy whereby a person does not feel energetic and refreshed after resting or sleeping
Chronic stress and fatigue disrupts nearly every system in our body. It can raise blood pressure, suppress the immune system, increase the risk of heart attack and stroke, contribute to infertility, and speed up the ageing process.
Multiple factors appear to promote the development of stress and fatigue.
Poor sleep, lack of activity and exercise, unhealthy diet and lack of vitamins and minerals especially Reduced B vitamins status, deficiency of vitamin C, magnesium, zinc, and other nutritional deficiency all have etiology relevance.

B group vitamins
- support healthy nervous syTem and brain function
- improve energy metabolism
- critical to stress relieve, mood lifting and energy release

Vitamin D , Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium
- regulate muscle contraction and relaxation
- improve nerve transmission
- help fight fatigue and enhance good sleep

Vitamin C & E, Quercetin. Zinc
- Antioxidant protection
- Neuroprotective  effect
- Enhanced immunity and fight infections

ALA - the ideal Antioxidant
ALA is a potent antioxidant, both lipid soluble and water soluble, activity acts in membranes of the brain and nervous tissues, liver tissue and other cell types.
Studies have shown the effectiveness of ALA in reducing  symptoms of diabetic neuropathy.
ALA has been found effective in protecting brain cells and slowing cognitive decline in patients with Alzeimer's disease.

Laser Vagina Rejuvenation

Our V2LR laser handpiece is finally here. Had a revision session with Prof Zerbinatti in the clinic on 3rd Jan. Imagine, for those of us who wish to "rejuvenate" ourselves can do so now with ease and painlessly. Just make an appointment with the clinic, come in 30min earlier so a topical numbing cream can be applied, and have the procedure conducted and completed in 1/2 hr,tops. What will you get ? Well, internally the lasering will "puff"up the mucosa of the vaginal wall by collagen remodeling, as well as improve sensations. Externally the procedure can lighten the skin color, increase sensitivity as well tighten surrounding area. ALl these in just 3 sessions! Prof Zerbinatti claims that in his clinic this is currently the most popular procedure among women in their 30s and 40s. I am very excited about this procedure. I know a lot of women out there do not have any problems, and therefore do not require any surgical LVR but would like to just improve. Like everyhti...

SIGNS YOU SHOULD AVOID AN INJECTOR

Recently, I was browsing through some of my favorite Facebook groups for aesthetic providers a nd I noticed something alarming. There was a glut of posts from inexperienced injectors, asking for advice on how to get best results with dermal   fillers. They werenā€™t sure whether common situations were normal  and were even asking for advice on complications. For example, one injector was concerned that her patient was experiencing swelling in her lip immediately after her appointment:   She didnā€™t have enough experience to know whether or not something had gone wrong. Or take this injector, who wasnā€™t sure whether the redness in her patient was normal:   The answer is ā€œprobably yesā€, but a more experienced provider could have achieved much gentler results with a cannula and know if there's something more serious like a blood vessel compression has occured.  A lso looks like she missed the right injection point a few times, which is not gre...

HOW TO AVOID BAD RESULTS WITH FILLERS

ā€œWhatā€™s happened to Charlotteā€™s face!?ā€ If youā€™ve been on Twitter or Reddit recently, youā€™ve probably come across lots of comments like that... Itā€™s a reference to the character Charlotte in Sex and the City . The series, which became a cultural icon 20 years ago, recently rebooted as ā€œ And Just Like That...ā€ And while all the characters have aged, Charlotte looked more different than the others... Her face was much broader, her lips were strangely flat and her cheeks are unusually full. The actress, Kristin Davis, didnā€™t look quite like herself any more. Initially, commentators wondered whether sheā€™d had plastic surgery. But it seems much more likely that sheā€™s had dermal fillers - done badly.   I know that this kind of ā€œunnaturalā€ result is a great concern for many including my clients too. Fillers are there to help ā€˜plump upā€™ areas of the face which have lost volume with age,  ā€˜fill inā€™ fine lines and wrinkle a nd give more definition to some o...
