So WHAT is Threadlifting?
A thread lift is also sometimes known as a non-surgical facelift. It is a minimally invasive procedure that uses absorbable threads to pull, lift, and support the skin in the face and neck. The threads used are designed to have graspers which helps to suspend the skin, reducing any sagging areas in the face and neck. Due to the structure of the threads, a thread lift procedure also encourages the production of collagen. A higher production of collagen will result in a healthier and more youthful skin.
Do note that the threads will be absorbed into the body within six to eight months. However, the results of a thread lift will remain – after the threads have been dissolved – and can last up to two years.
I have conducted many different tyopes of threadlifting since 2010. Starting with Aptos threads with barbs, I went on to Silhuotte Soft threads with cones , then happy Lift with barbs again. In between I have used PDO threads (polydioxane) initially smooth fine ones and later thicker with barbs as well.
The latest in thread technology are the thicker threads made of a combination polyLactic Acid (PLA) and PolyCaprolactone (PCL) which acts also as a biostimulator, thus stimulating and incresing the skin's hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin after insertion. So what you see later is not just lifted skin, but improved skin texture and an intense revitalising effect.
What happens during and after a thread lift procedure?
Happy Lift threadlifting can be performed in a clean procedure room and does not need and OT (operation theatre). It takes 15 to 40mins, and requires an extremely short recovery period. You can resume your social life almost immediately.
After the thread lift procedure, you may experience minor swelling and bruising. However, the swelling and bruising will subside within a few days. Some may also experience minimal pain and numbness. But for most, there is minimal to no downtime required. I usually do advice to refrain from vigorous physical activity immediately after the procedure.
How long does Happy Lift last?
The threads will eventually dissolve in the body after six to eight months, the results of a thread lift procedure can last up to two years.The lifting effect can be seen immediately after the procedure. Some people may find it lasts upto 5 years.
Who's Suitable?
Both men and women with mild to moderate signs of aging can undergo threadlifting. Those with premature aging and do not have excessively loose and hanging skin, but will experience sagging in their face and neck will benefit from a thread lift, as it is able to reverse premature aging without the need to undergo a surgical procedure. It is also perfect for people who are seeking a convenient, minimally invasive, and low risk alternative to the traditional facelift.
What are the risks?
Threadlifting is known to be one of the safest cosmetic procedures in the market, provided it is performed by a trained professional and experienced doctor. As with any cosmetic procedure however, there is a low possibility of infection which can be treated with antibiotics. And, in some extremely rare cases, you may experience numbness, a migration of sutures, and puckering of the skin.
Can Happy Lift be combined with other procedures?
Yes, thread lifting can be combined with other treatments such as Ultherapy, Thermage, Laser Skin tightening, Dermal fillers, and BTA injections. I will normally advice on the best treatment combinations that will result in greater and more visible results.
Do note that the thread lift procedure is not suitable for those with thin and fragile skin, pronounced sagging in the face and neck, and little facial fat.
